July 9, 2007 Growing up in a household revolving around music, it would be natural if Martina McBride's daughters wanted to follow in her footsteps, but she says 12-year-old Delaney and 9-year-old Emma haven't shown any inclination in that area.
"They've both got great voices," she tells Dial-Global, "but I can't get them to sing in front of anybody. They won't go onstage and sing. I've offered and asked and begged and pleaded. They're just not interested in that, so we'll see. I'm sure there will be some aspect of performing in their future. They're just not interested in singing right now."
Martina says Delaney is a great dancer and has been taking dance classes, and Emma, who is quite poised and funny, wants to be an actress. However, Martina points out that Emma doesn't look to Tinseltown for role models, which makes mom "very happy."
She adds, "She likes things like Hannah Montana and That's So Raven and a lot of things on the Disney Channel. My girls are just not really drawn to all the Hollywood hype and that stuff, so that's good." Martina's youngest daughter, Ava, who just turned two, is a little young to know what she wants to be when she grows up.
