July 25, 2007 — Getting back to basics is the idea behind Montgomery Gentry's next album, which is tentatively due out in early 2008, according to the duo's Troy Gentry.

Troy tells Billboard.com that the group is likely to keep "the vibe of [2006's] Some People Change, but we've been hearing from a lot of fans — they want some more raucous kind of stuff out of us, some of the in-your-face, hard rock kind of stuff. So we're going to bring some of the older Montgomery Gentry style back into the music, as far as twin lead guitars and hard-driving kind of sounds that we had in the past."

The Kentucky native admits that Some People Change represented a more mature Montgomery Gentry, with the twosome's religious and political beliefs bleeding into the mix. Even though the CD produced the hit singles "Some People Change" and "Lucky Man," Troy is looking forward to taking a step back with the next project.

"Blake Chancey, who produced the My Town record, is coming back to produce this new album, which we'll probably start sometime in the middle of fall," Troy says. "There are a couple of songs that we're really digging on right now that we've been performing during sound check, kind of testing it on the other acts we play with or whoever is around and listening."

Also in the works for the pair, who perform Thursday in Chula Vista, Calif., is a possible concert DVD, with their USO performances scheduled later this year in Iraq forming the basis of the film.
