August 22, 2007 While most of the southeast has been staying indoors with air blowing during a record-breaking heat wave, Van Zant braved the 100+ heat in Watertown, Tenn., last week to shoot the music video for their new single, "Goes Down Easy," Dial-Global reports.
In the clip, brothers Johnny and Donnie Van Zant play traveling salesmen driving a 1930s'-era truck into town to peddle bottles of their "Van Zant Special Elixir," only to find themselves on the wrong end of the law and the townsfolk. The director and his crew wrapped up shooting in the wee hours of the morning, and fans will be able to see the video on the air later this month.
Van Zant's second disc, My Kind of Country, hits stores on October 9. It's the follow-up to their gold-certified 2005 release, Get Right with the Man. Johnny says he's confident that people who liked the gold-certified 2005 release are going to like this one.
"It's like the last record that we did every song we believed in," he says. "If we can't relate to a song, how can we expect the audience to relate to it?"
