August 30, 2007 Although Kellie Pickler endured some ribbing about her lack of sophistication during "American Idol," her subsequent career moves proved her intelligence. Now she's going to school on national TV to show just how smart she really is.
Kellie is one of several celebrity contestants scheduled to compete on Fox-TV's "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" during the November sweeps period. Others set to appear include fellow "American Idol" alum Clay Aiken, talk-show host Regis Philbin, skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, Miss America Lauren Nelson and Billie Bush of "Access Hollywood."
The all-stars, who will compete for a potential million dollar prize for the charity of their choice, will face questions from host Jeff Foxworthy covering subjects taught in grade school, including math, science, art, social studies and geography.
"Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" premieres on September 6 at 8 p.m. ET. The celebrity edition will air some time in November.
