September 12, 2007 Tim McGraw, who serves as honorary chair of the Tug McGraw Foundation, will present "Denim & Diamonds: An Evening with Tim McGraw and Friends" for the organization's third annual fundraising gala on Nov. 2.
Tug McGraw, who was Tim's father and one of the most successful and well-loved pitchers in baseball, established the nonprofit organization before his death from a brain tumor in 2004 to help other brain tumor patients and their families, friends and caregivers face the challenges that come with the disease.
Tim and his band, the Dancehall Doctors, along with friends Lori McKenna, Halfway 2 Hazard and Lance Miller, will perform at the gala, while Bob Costas will serve as host. Sponsored by Anheuser-Busch, the event will be held at Grant's Farm, the ancestral home of the Busch family in St. Louis. Individuals who have made a difference in the fight against brain tumors and who exemplify Tug's "Ya Gotta Believe" spirit will also be honored.
"Brain tumors are the leading cause of solid tumor death in children under age 20 and the third leading cause of cancer death in young adults ages 20 to 39," Tim says. "Our foundation is committed to making life better for kids and adults who are affected by brain tumors."
