September 18, 2007 Jennifer Hanson recently overcame quite a few challenges as she tried to get from Nashville to Fayetteville, Ark,. for a scheduled performance, Dial-Global reports.
The fun began when her original flight was canceled and her later flight rerouted through Chicago. After getting to that gate, she was told that that flight was delayed. "I was starting to get a little nervous by this point," Jennifer says, "because the delays and rerouting meant we were cutting it really close for our connection in Chicago. So after four hours of sitting in the Nashville airport, we depart, arrive at Chicago O'Hare, only to find our connection to Fayetteville was delayed?by an hour."
The problems continued after boarding the Chicago outbound plane. Jennifer and her crew had to disembark because the plane had a mechanical problem. After waiting at the gate for 20 minutes, all passengers were directed to another gate and plane. They landed, grabbed the equipment, and rushed to the venue.
"We got no sound check, had no monitors," Jennifer says, "We just plugged in and played!" Jennifer got such a warm reception that she says, "It helped put the travel nightmare behind us." Until her return flight, that is.
"We were delayed by hours, tried three different airlines and dealt with a number of really crabby people," Jennifer says. "A trip that should have taken about three-and-a-half hours took almost 12 hours! Oh, and they lost our luggage and my guitars!"
Hanson's ride on the country music charts is faring much better, however, with her new single, "Joyride," continuing to move up.
