October 1, 2007 A judge has granted Sara Evans a divorce from her husband, Craig Schelske, on the grounds of irreconcilable differences, People magazine reports.
A brief statement filed with the court by the attorneys for both parties, says, "The parties have agreed that it is in their best interests and those of their children to amicably resolve all issues in their pending divorce. Each one wishes the other well in all future endeavors.''
The two sides agreed on a joint custody plan for their three children and a split of marital assets. Sara also agreed to pay Schelske alimony of $600,000 over 10 years. In addition, Access Hollywood reports, she will keep the family's Tennessee home, and Craig will take the couple's two homes in Oregon.
Attorneys for Evans and Schelske stated in court documents that their clients will "have no further comment regarding any allegations of fault or misconduct alleged by either party in these divorce proceedings.''
Ready to move on, Sara tells Chicago radio station US99.5 that she's been keeping busy with her upcoming Greatest Hits CD, which is due out October 9. As for her new single status, she says she wishes dating were as easy as it seems in the video for "As If," her latest single. "If only it could be that easy," she says. "Just buy one, try them out, take them back to the store."
Sara says that these days she's either with her children or on the road and that she's "perfectly fine with the way things are right now."
