October 3, 2007 Neal McCoy helped raise more than $500,000 for his foundation, the East Texas Angel Network, at the 13th annual ETAN benefit last weekend in his hometown of Longview, Texas.
Funds raised from the weekend of activities, which included a celebrity golf tournament, sponsors' dinner and concert, will go to the foundation created by Neal and his wife, Melinda, to enhance the lives of families in East Texas whose child or children may be suffering from a serious or life-threatening illness or disease.
Saturday nights concert at Lobo Coliseum featured performances by Neal, Jamie ONeal, the von Trapp Family Singers, and Williams and Ree. Fresh off the plane from visiting troops in Iraq, the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders joined Neal on stage to perform his hit "The Shake." TVs "Jungle" Jack Hanna was in attendance for the fifth consecutive year, entertaining the crowd with exotic animals, including a python, a lemur, and a binturong (bearcat). At the sponsors' dinner, he auctioned off his private Montana home for a week, bringing in $42,000 for the cause.
Founded in 1995, ETAN has now raised more than $4.7 million since its inception.
