In a revealing conversation, Garth Brooks calls the upcoming series of concerts in Kansas City, Mo. in November a natural progression of his life.

"If my life were a football game, then [the years] 1990-1995 was the first quarter, 1996-2001 was the second. Now it's halftime," says Brooks, who has scheduled nine sold-out performances.

Garth Brooks, the most successful solo recording artist in music history, retired from active touring in 2001 to spend time with his family. He said at the time he would not resume touring until his youngest daughter, now 11, graduated high school.

While Garth Brooks acknowledges a desire to return to the stage, he tells GAC's Lorianne Crook that he has never once regretted his decision to back away. He flashes a dazzling smile as he talks of his love for wife Trisha Yearwood, yet, he says, he stays in daily contact with former wife Sandy, the mother of his three daughters.

"If I never get to play music again, hey, I'm a father and I am fine with that," Garth Brooks says.

On Nov. 6, Brooks will release The Ultimate Hits, a three-disc set containing 30 classics, three new songs and a bonus track on two audio CDs. The set also includes a DVD with 33 videos including never-before seen footage. GAC will premiere a 60-minute music special GARTH BROOKS: The Ultimate Hits, on Nov. 18 (8 p.m. ET).
