January 14, 2008 — Tracy Byrd is a native of Beaumont, Texas. So when he becomes an official spokesman for a community, it only makes sense that he lends his name to...Hot Springs, Arkansas?

That's right. Hot Springs announced last week that Tracy will begin touting the community's assets in a series of advertisements. He'll also take part in September in the city's first Smoke On The Water and Balloon Legends Festival.

As it turns out, Tracy's a fan of Hot Springs, so it'll be easy for him to represent the city to fans. He's gone there a number of times to hunt and fish, and he's been won over by its restaurants and art galleries.

"And," he adds, "I must mention that the hot thermal baths in Hot Springs are one of my wife's favorite indulgences."

There's no slight intended to his hometown. A hyperbaric center in Beaumont now bears his name, and his annual Beaumont Boys Bash benefit is slated for April.
