March 18, 2008 — Seven weeks after the 5 concerts he gave during a two-day run in Los Angeles, Garth Brooks is back in retirement from the road, tending after the kids in Oklahoma. But he is still working his recordings: Last week, he released "Midnight Sun," the third single from the album The Ultimate Hits, to radio.

Garth co-wrote the song with two of the composers who authored his Chris LeDoux tribute "Good Ride Cowboy," and they drew on Garth’s past in the process.

"This [song] is my college days," Garth says of "Midnight Sun." "This is haulin’ hay during the daytime, then goin’ out to the Tumbleweed and dancin’ at the honky tonk at night. And that’s what this [song] is. If you think you hear the line ‘dance ‘til you’re sweatin’ like a rented mule’— yes, you [do]!"

In addition to the single, Garth has already directed a video for the song.
