March 21, 2008 — A CD/DVD combo featuring in-concert performances by Martina McBride has been used by some PBS stations to raise money in pledge drives. Now that project is set for release via more traditional routes April 29.

Titled Martina McBride: Live In Concert, it features eight songs on the CD and packs 20 performances onto the DVD. The CD boasts six former hits including "Independence Day," "Anyway" and "Happy Girl" plus a cover of Pat Benatar's "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" and "From The Ashes," a song she first recorded for the album Emotion.

The DVD, recorded last September in Moline, Ill., nestles two different cover trilogies into the mix. One features three songs she remade for her Timeless album: "(I Never Promised You A) Rose Garden," originally a hit for Lynn Anderson; "You Ain't Woman Enough," written by Loretta Lynn; and "Help Me Make It Through The Night," made famous by Sammi Smith. It closes with three pop and rock classics: Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'," Benatar's "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" and the Wizard Of Oz landmark "Over The Rainbow."
