April 8, 2008 - Most of the songs that appear on the country charts are co-written by two or more people, and Trisha Yearwood - who knows a thing or two about good songs - applied a songwriter technique to her first cookbook. She collaborated with her mother, Gwen Yearwood, and sister, Beth Yearwood Bernard, to write "Georgia Cooking In An Oklahoma Kitchen." But instead of swapping ideas on guitars, they traded notes on keyboards.

"My mom came out to Oklahoma, and we would sit on opposite computers and take different tasks," Trisha recalls. "We checked and re-checked amounts, and since she's a retired teacher, I had a lot of grammar questions for her. We wrote the book as a team of three, and some of the recipes that were Mom's or Beth's, I asked them to write about, and then I adapted their stories and used their notes or comments."

The book is the subject of a feature in the May edition of Ladies' Home Journal. "Georgia Cooking" is officially released today.
