May 30, 2008 — With her split from husband Robert John "Mutt" Lange a source of public curiosity, Shania Twain is featured on the cover of the new "People" magazine with the stirring headline "Shania Betrayed."
The magazine claims to have the first interview with Marie-Anne Thiebaud, the assistant that has been accused of having an affair with Mutt and wrecking Shania’s relationship. Marie-Anne tells People, "You cannot believe everything you read in the press" and denies the affair ever happened. Mutt has also denied being romantically linked with the assistant.
People, however, still cites sources close to the couple who maintain Mutt cheated and continues to have a relationship with Marie-Anne. Those sources also indicate Shania is "devastated" and that she left him to be with her family in Canada.
The break-up puts Shania on the cover of People for the first time since June 1999. The issue is on newsstands beginning Friday.
