Billy Ray Cyrus Leads Disney Disc

June 25, 2008 — Billy Ray Cyrus, Rascal Flatts, Martina McBride, Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss are among the artists contributing to a 15-track collection that celebrates the Disney Music Group’s connection to Nashville.

Country Sings Disney mostly features songs that originated in soundtracks for such Disney films as The Lion King, Bambi II and The Little Mermaid, bookended by a pair of tracks featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, currently signed to Walt Disney Records. The collection leads with "Ready, Set, Don’t Go," Billy Ray’s duet with daughter Miley Cyrus; and closes with "Real Gone," his version of a song Sheryl Crow introduced in the Cars soundtrack.

Most of the material previously appeared on various soundtracks and compilations, including Faith Hill’s "Part Of Your World," a song from The Little Mermaid that she recorded for a similarly themed 1996 album, The Best Of Country Sing The Best Of Disney.

Songs newly recorded for the current album, which lands in stores July 8, include Bucky Covington’s cover of the Phil Collins hit "You’ll Be In My Heart," which came to prominence through Tarzan; Phil Stacey’s version of "Can You Feel The Love Tonight," from The Lion King; and SHeDAISY’s rendition of "Baby Mine," from Dumbo.
