July 7, 2008 Gary Allan played Saturday at Kenny Chesneys Poets & Pirates tour date at Nashvilles LP Field, where the crowd was a reported 49,000 people strong.
He actually got the show started at 4 p.m., performing in the sun, which is an unusual slot given that most concerts start after sundown.
Garys been on most of Kennys stadium dates this year, but hes also filled in between them with shows of his own as he continues to stay out in front of his fan base.
"We play hard," Gary says. "We have an absolute blast, and I think its transparent, and I think thats why people love to come and see us. Because its authentic. Were giving it everything that we have, every night."
Gary played long enough to fit 11 songs into his set in Nashville, where the bill also featured Keith Urban, LeAnn Rimes and rocker Sammy Hagar.
Garys next stadium date with Kenny comes on Saturday when the tour hits Turner Field in Atlanta. LeAnn and Sammy are also on the bill that day, along with Brooks & Dunn. Leading up to that, Gary opens for Kenny in Evansville, Ind., on Thursday and plays Bonner Springs, Kan., with Keith Anderson and Gary Nail on Friday.
