July 9, 2008 Its been three years since Patty Loveless released her last album, titled after an old Waylon Jennings hit, Dreaming My Dreams.
Her next album is an entire series of cover songs, according to Billboard magazine. Sleepless Nights is due Sept. 9 via Saguaro Road Records, a new label that launched last month with a CD by "Forgive" singer Rebecca Lynn Howard.
Pattys album will feature 14 new versions of classic country hits, including the Ray Price single "Crazy Arms," Carl & Pearl Butlers "Dont Let Me Crossover," Hank Locklins "Please Help Me, Im Falling," Hank Williams "Cold Cold Heart," Jack Greenes "There Goes My Everything" and a pair of George Jones hits: "Why Baby Why" and "He Thinks I Still Care."
The George Jones association is appropriate, since shes been on two previous recordings with him that won Vocal Event of the Year awards from the Country Music Association. She appeared alongside numerous other artists including Garth Brooks, Clint Black, Pam Tillis and Vince Gill, for starters on Georges 1992 single "I Dont Need Your Rockin Chair" and did a duet with the Possum on 1997s "You Dont Seem To Miss Me." Ironically, her last Top 15 hit, 2003s "Lovin All Night," was also a cover: Rodney Crowell first had a hit with it in 1992.
