July 10, 2008 — Growing up in Kentucky, Patty Loveless was inspired musically by the country sounds around her, and that’s the major motivation behind her next album, Sleepless Nights, which features cover versions of 14 songs made famous by the likes of George Jones, Hank Williams and Conway Twitty.

Produced with husband Emory Gordy Jr., the album will feature background vocals by the inimitable Vince Gill with an all-star cast of musicians. Among the players are Country Music Hall of Fame member Harold Bradley, award-winning keyboard players John Hobbs and Hargus "Pig" Robbins and guitarists Steve Gibson and Biff Watson, plus drummer Harry Stinson, of Marty Stuart’s Fabulous Superlatives.

"Emory and I were talking over dinner about recapturing some of these moments from my youth," Patty notes, "because I want to inspire and remind people of what country is made of. It takes me back especially to my brother, Roger, and my sister, Dottie, and the music they loved."

"It's a little bit of a history lesson, but I think once you hear the songs, the stories, you're going to be drawn to it," she adds. "People lived a little differently then, but at the same time, there's a lot more in common [with today] than people would think."

The album will be released Sept. 9. A complete track listing (and the artist each song was originally associated with) follows:
