July 15, 2008 The Gaylord Opryland Resort where the grounds include the Grand Ole Opry House held a big opening Sunday night in Nashville for its Vegas-style nightclub, FUSE, with Kid Rock serving as host and DJ for the evening. And the event got a pretty decent celebrity turnout, though not quite the turnout they were touting.
A notice went out in advance to media noting that Whitney Houston and Kenny Chesney were on the guest list. Kenny was in no way expected by anyone paying attention to show up: He had a show that same night in Atlanta. In fact, a bunch of the artists who were billed as having RSVPd never made it, according to WKRN-TV in Nashville.
But a number did. They included Ty Herndon, Danielle Peck, Lonestars Dean Sams and Cody Collins, Lady Antebellum, Trent Tomlinson, Kim Kardashian, Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, Christian artist Michael Tait and Tennessee Titans kicker Rob Bironas.
At least one of the attendees was extremely impressed by the 14,000-square-foot facility.
"To have this scale of a club this ritzy, glamorous club it's what this town has needed," Trent said. "This town has always been like L.A. without the tan. Now we've got the tan."
