July 28, 2008 Hank Williams Jr. will be in Los Angeles this week to shoot his annual video promo package for ESPNs "Monday Night Football."
Bocephus cut the audio tracks, based on his hit "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight," last week, the Associated Press reports. According to The Tennessean, hell begin the two-day video shoot in California on Friday.
The timing is appropriate. Thursday is the anniversary of the 1984 shoot for his original "All My Rowdy Friends" video, which won the Country Music Associations inaugural Video of the Year award. Hank Jr. featured a ton of guests in that clip, including Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, the Oak Ridge Boys, Porter Wagoner, George Jones and Mel Tillis.
In recent years, Hanks "Monday Night Football" versions of the song have had plenty of guests as well, including Gretchen Wilson, Richie Sambora, Little Richard, Aerosmiths Joe Perry and the E Street Band.
"All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight" has become such a big part of the culture that its line "We got a pig in the ground/We got the beer on ice" is referenced by Alan Jackson in his current hit "Good Time."
This seasons "Monday Night Football" kicks off Sept. 8 with a double-header when the Minnesota Vikings visit the Green Bay Packers and the Denver Broncos play the Raiders in Oakland.
