Aug. 5, 2008 — Brooks & Dunn performed Sunday night in San Bernardino County, Calif., and even though they weren’t slated to play in Los Angeles, they had good reason to take a 65-mile drive into the City of Angels after the show.

Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn finally received a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame Monday, more than a year after the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce first announced their names would appear in that widely-known stretch of concrete.

"This really is a dream come true," Kix said at the ceremony, according to a CBS report. Kix added that the whole event was "surreal."

"I think people forget that Ronnie and I have dedicated our lives to music because originally we're such huge fans," Kix said, according to People. "To have your name on a star on Hollywood [Boulevard] seems so out of reach."

Their induction was conducted by Dr. Phil McGraw and his wife, Robin, as Brooks & Dunn’s star was laid into the ground at 7021 Hollywood Boulevard, across the street from the historic Roosevelt Hotel. Their piece of turf is situated right next to the star for actor Morgan Freeman, who incidentally, was hospitalized in Memphis yesterday after a Sunday-night car accident.

Also in the vicinity of the new Brooks & Dunn marker are stars honoring Randy Travis, Dwight Yoakam and Earl Scruggs, all of whom have been inducted since 2003. Among other country acts whose names are embedded in the Walk of Fame are Garth Brooks, Alabama, Reba McEntire, Clint Black, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn.

Brooks & Dunn: Cowboy Town, a 90-minute special, debuts on GAC on Aug. 13 at 9 p.m. ET.
