Aug. 15, 2008 When artists go on tour, they inevitably spend endless hours cooped up in a bus, a hotel or a backstage dressing room waiting for the time they finally get to play. So when Brooks & Dunn hit the road, its no surprise that the 90 minutes or two hours they spend on stage at a major venue isnt always enough of an outlet for them to stretch.
As a result, they sometimes find other smaller places to do an after-show performance, and producers caught them in post-concert action during filming for the GAC special Brooks & Dunn: Cowboy Town.
"We went in a club after the show in Dallas, which is what we do after performances a lot when we've still got a lot of energy and just feel like playing music," Kix Brooks told the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "Thats a place where both of us really cut our teeth. Thats where we learned how to deal with the crowd, where you learn how to deal with every situation, bad and good. And to now still be able after doing a big show to go back into a small club thats full of people and get that in-your-face moment coming up in the clubs, you always kinda wished itd be that way, but people really never cared that much about what you were doing, and now they kinda do. Its really fun, and its neat to get that on film."
Brooks & Dunn: Cowboy Town encores three times this weekend: 10 p.m. ET, Saturday, Aug. 16; and 2 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET, Sunday, Aug. 17.
