2008 CMA Awards Nominees Announced

September 10, 2008 — Kenny Chesney leads with seven nominations and George Strait and Sugarland each received five nominations as the nominees for the 2008 CMA Awards were announced both in Nashville and New York this morning. Additionally, Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles received a total of six nominations, including a songwriter nod for "Stay"; and Alan Jackson and Brad Paisley earned four nominations each.

Rascal Flatts and Taylor Swift appeared in New York on the 8:30 a.m. portion of ABC's "Good Morning America" to announce several categories, after which Lady Antebellum and James Otto revealed the remaining categories at in Nashville. The 42nd Annual CMA Awards will be broadcast live from the Sommet Center in Nashville on ABC on November 12 at 8 p.m. ET.
