October 5, 2008 — According to people.com, Dierks Bentley is a proud new dad.

Dierks, 32, and wife Cassidy, 33, welcomed their first child, Evalyn Day Bentley, just before midnight on Saturday at a hospital in Nashville, where the Bentleys live. Evalyn weighed 7 lbs., 10 oz., and the happy parents say they'll call her "Evie."

Dierks' publicist says he is overjoyed by the prospect of fatherhood. "She is the most beautiful little girl you have ever seen," Dierks told the rep. "Cass did great, and I'm so happy!"

Dierks met his future wife when she was Cassidy Black – and they were both in the eighth grade at middle school in Phoenix, Dierks' hometown.

At Dierks' 3rd annual Miles and Music for Kids motorcycle ride Sunday, Dierks told GAC, "Evalyn is my wife’s grandmother’s name, and Day is just, we like the word Day. It’s just a hopeful word, you know? It’s just about positive energy and being hopeful about every day."

Of his new role as dad, Dierks said, "I’m really excited. Haven’t slept at all yet. It’s hard to really put it into words. I’ll try, but I’m not really sure about what to say about it, but it really is an amazing deal. I think of all the cool experiences I’ve had a chance to do over the last five years and the different places we’ve been, all the journeys we’ve undertaken – nothing compares to the last 10 months and especially to last night, just watching my wife do what she did. It was really cool.

"This event is for Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, and we were at Vanderbilt last night giving birth to a child and we now have a child," added Dierks. "And it all just ties together. It’s really an amazing experience."
