Oct. 22, 2008 Craig Morgan released a new album, Thats Why, on Tuesday, and hes told reporters the CD is "more me" than anything hes recorded before.
Much of the album is about small-town life and relationships, and while some of the themes and lyrics represent him, Craig notes that its the musical elements that are giving more of a clue to him as a person and an artist.
"Although I said this is probably more me in this record than anything else, a lot of the me that Im referring to in this record is the vocalizations, the singing process, the musical interpretations thats the me Im referring to," Craig told the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "Again, there are a few songs on here that are extremely autobiographical, but there are other songs on here that arent exactly about me, but I liked the way that I could sing them, they were fun to sing, and there was also material within the song that I could relate to."
The albums first single, "Love Remembers," reached No. 15 on the Country Aircheck chart this week, and Craig will perform it Friday on ABC-TVs "Good Morning, America."
Meanwhile, hes very visible on GAC. The special Craig Morgan: Back To Bragg airs Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET and at midnight, Thursday at 7 p.m. ET and Saturday at 11 p.m. ET. That last appearance comes after hes officially inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry on Opry Live, airing at 9 p.m. ET.
