Dec. 29, 2008 — Luke Bryan’s "Country Man" was one of the most successful country singles of 2008; it ranked at No. 50 among the year’s titles on the Country Aircheck year-end list.
But of all the fans Luke picked up with that song, he was most amazed to discover Tim McGraw was a big believer. Luke saw Tim open for Reba McEntire in the early 1990s, and he’s been a fan ever since.
"I remember just being just blown away by his songs," Luke told the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "His music was really kind of the soundtrack to my college years, and I’ve just always been a huge admirer and a big fan. So to know that he’s running around singing one of my songs and he’s actually admitting that and singing it in public is pretty flattering and pretty amazing stuff to hear."
"Country Man" stands a good chance of landing among GAC’s Top 50 Videos Of 2008. Hosted by Taylor Swift, the countdown debuts Monday at 8 p.m. ET and runs nightly through Friday. Among Taylor’s guests are Lady Antebellum, Miley Cyrus, Trace Adkins, Kellie Pickler, Chuck Wicks, Darius Rucker and "Country Man" Luke Bryan.
