Blake Shelton Tops "Top 20"

Jan. 16, 2009 — Sexy. That word is being applied to Blake Shelton of late, as he holds the distinction of being People magazine’s Sexiest Country Star. He’s also in the top spot on this week’s edition of GAC’s Top 20 Country Countdown, debuting Friday with host Nan Kelley.

The ever-self-deprecating Blake does not take his People honor too seriously.

"I don't even know what to think about it, really," he told LiveDaily.com. "My favorite thing about it, I guess, is knowing that my mom takes People magazine, and she still cuts hair in Ada, Okla. She's a hairstylist. My favorite thing about it is knowing she's probably going to cut that page out and tape it on to her mirror so she can point to it and tell everyone that's her son. So that's pretty cool, I guess."

Blake scoots to No. 1 on the Top 20 Country Countdown this week with "She Wouldn’t Be Gone," which is quickly becoming one of his most successful videos. Three videos also appear within the Top 20 that weren’t there last week: Lady Antebellum’s "Lookin’ For A Good Time," Dierks Bentley’s "Feel That Fire" and Little Big Town’s "Good Lord Willing."

A new countdown premieres every Friday at 8 p.m. ET on GAC and airs again Saturdays at 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. ET; Sundays at 1 p.m. ET; and Mondays at 10 a.m. ET.
