Feb. 10, 2009 — Kenny Rogers is currently in the middle of his 50th Anniversary Tour, a title that certainly begs the question: Does he plan on retiring?

If and when that time comes, Kenny likely won’t make a big deal about it. There certainly won’t be a massive farewell tour because too many other artists have staged them and proven that it’s hard to walk away.

"You get bored and come back," he told The Worcester Telegram & Gazette, of Massachusetts. "It’s unfair."

Instead, Kenny will make his departure rather quietly.

"I’ll just drift into the sunset sometime," he said.

That probably won’t happen soon. There’s still an audience out there for his long list of hits — "The Gambler," "Islands In The Stream," "Lady," "Ruby, Don’t Take Your Guns To Town," "Lucille" — and Kenny still gets a kick out of playing for those fans.

"I really, really love what I’m doing," he said. "People survive longer if they love what they are doing. Because you just don’t quit."

Kenny is the focus as Bill Cody hosts GAC’s Master Series Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET.
