Feb. 13, 2009 Were not yet out of winter, but Montgomery Gentry is already itching to get to its summer tour schedule.
Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry have a busy itinerary thats punctuated by a number of stadium dates at the home field of such NFL teams as the Philadelphia Eagles, the Seattle Seahawks, the Detroit Lions and the New England Patriots. Montgomery Gentry is a support act on the stadium shows in Kenny Chesneys Sun City Carnival Tour, and Eddie and T-Roy figure its a cant-lose proposition.
"Its gonna be fun," Troy told the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "Its not gonna be enough dates... I think were only doing eight, nine or 10 dates with Kenny this year. Weve had a history with Kenny in the past, and hes always been fun to work with. We did one of the tours with him a couple, three or four years back. And weve played with him, as far as pickup bands on outside dates and stuff. Hes always been a pleasure to work with. Hes a great dude, and we were flattered to even be asked to be a part of this and to be on it this year with such a great lineup."
His touring prowess landed Kenny at No. 6 on the Billboard Moneymakers Top 20 chart for 2008. According to the magazine, Kenny generated $90.8 million last year, most of it through concert appearances. Rascal Flatts finished No. 8, with $63.5 million in revenue; the Eagles, No. 11, $61.1 million; and Taylor Swift, No. 16, $45.6 million. Topping the chart: Madonna, with earnings of $242.2 million.
