April 3, 2009 — John Rich and Jason Aldean have a little bit of history between them, and the two share the spotlight with host Nan Kelley this weekend on the latest edition of GAC’s Top 20 Country Countdown.

John’s written several of Jason’s hits, including "Amarillo Sky," "Hicktown," "Johnny Cash" and "Why," helping set a strong course for the early part of Jason’s career. Jason’s third album, Wide Open, will be released on Tuesday, and his current video, for "That’s Country," debuts in the Top 20 Country Countdown this week.

John meanwhile had a ferocious debut for his latest album, Son Of A Preacher Man, which lodged itself at No. 3 on the Billboard country album chart, in large part because of his current hit, "Shuttin’ Detroit Down." John enlisted Kris Kristofferson and Mickey Rourke for the video, but he plans to play a very stripped-down version of the song on Sunday’s "44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards."

"I will be performing ‘Shuttin’ Detroit Down’ on the ACM awards acoustically, just me and a guitar," John told Suzanne Alexander on the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville. "I want those lyrics to penetrate. I don’t want the crash and bang and boom. And listen, I’m not the greatest singer in the world, but I can deliver that lyric. And I want people to really feel what I’m singin’, ‘cause I think they feel the same."

Top 20 Country Countdown counts down the week's top country videos from No. 20 to No. 1 as voted by viewers on each week on GACTV.com. A new countdown premieres every Friday at 8 p.m. ET on GAC and airs again Saturdays at 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. ET; Sundays at 1 p.m. ET; and Mondays at 10 a.m. ET.
