April 7, 2009 With a gold album and a platinum one already in his possession, Jason Aldean hopes to make it a trifecta with the release of his newest project, Wide Open, which hits the street Tuesday.
Following up on Sundays presenter slot at the "44th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards", hes doing eight cities in eight days to call attention to the CD, which builds upon his experience with the earlier projects, Jason Aldean and Relentless.
"I feel like with my first two albums, I was trying to dial in who I was as an artist and what my fans liked and expected to hear from me," he says. "Four years into it, I think I understand that now, and I'm really just starting to hit my stride. I'm excited to see what happens the next few weeks and months because I'm really proud of the new album."
The first single from Wide Open, "Shes Country," hit No. 7 on this weeks USA Today Mediabase country chart. Jasons booked a May 1 appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," and on Friday, hell sing the national anthem and throw out the ceremonial first pitch for the Atlanta Braves home opener. The only other country-related act who did opening-day honors this year is Lyle Lovett, who sang the anthem Monday for the Houston Astros.
To coincide with the album release, GAC premieres a new special, Jason Aldean: Wide Open, Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET.
