May 27, 2009 In less than three years, Taylor Swift has gone from obscurity to mega-stardom all before the age of 20 and another sign of her significance comes Sunday when she receives a one-hour NBC special, "Dateline: On Tour With Taylor Swift."
The package includes footage from her Fearless headining tour as well as from concert trips to Australia and the United Kingdom.
"This tour is my baby," she says on the program. "I'm just so excited about every angle of this tour."
The shows include dancers, elaborate staging and multiple costumes as she headlines for the first time with Kellie Pickler opening. And Taylor gets a jolt of adrenaline with every performance as she cruises from city to city.
The adrenaline rush is particularly intense "in the 30 seconds before I go onstage when I hear that scream," she says. "When I hear that high-pitched sound of all those people screaming together, it's like I want to get onstage right now. It's the most amazing feeling."
Taylors appearance at Los Angeles Staples Center this past weekend featured an unannounced guest, John Mayer. Taylor also got quite a surprise Tuesday when Radio & Records magazine placed "Love Story" at No. 1 on its adult/contemporary chart. While shes topped the country chart a number of times, its the first time shes reached the post position on the AC list.
