Throughout the course of country music history it's always proven far more difficult for a group/band to make it big. And it's not from a lack of effort or talent. Over the last couple of years that trend has continued, but there are some notable successes. In 2007 Lady Antebellum stormed onto the scene and captured the hearts of country fans with their debut hit "Love Don't Live Here." In 2008 it was the Zac Brown Band that stole the show with a quick rise to the top thanks to their homegrown hit "Chicken Fried." Will this year's big story be Gloriana? It sure looks that way.
The band rang in the new year by releasing their debut single and video for "Wild At Heart" and have been on roll ever since. On March 6th the group comprised of brothers Tom and Mike Gossin, Rachel Reinert and Cheyenne Kimball made their Grand Ole Opry Debut. In April it was time to hit the road as an opening act on Taylor Swift's Fearless 2009 Tour. A wild ride indeed, and the band shows no signs of slowing down.
The band has chalked up over 200,000 digital downloads for their "Wild At Heart" single and this past Tuesday they released the rest of their self-titled debut album which immediately became the top-seller on iTunes.
Gloriana has a lot to celebrate and now the girls of Gloriana, Cheyenne Kimball and Rachel Reinert, are celebrating their first national magazine cover together, on Justine Magazine's August/September issue, on newsstands now.
"I have to keep pinching myself to make sure I am not dreaming," said Rachel. "The last couple of days have been so surreal and so amazing. As a group we could not have asked for a better debut and now I am on the cover of a magazine with Cheyenne. It's a dream come true."
But as they say...you can't win 'em all as evidenced by this video featuring Tom suffering a crushing defeat at the hands of a more than able competitor in his quest to become the "arm wrastlin'" champion of the Fearless Tour.
