Kenny Chesney Sings For The President

May 17, 2006--Kenny Chesney performed at the White House last night for President George W. Bush and Australian Prime Minister John Howard. The event was a black tie dinner honoring Howard. This was Kenny's second visit to the White House. His first invitation came a few years ago when he was in Washington, D.C. taping his Christmas special.

No doubt Kenny played his new Top 10 single, "Summertime." Kenny tells X Radio he had a feeling the song would be a fan favorite. "When I first heard this song 'Summertime,' it was a perfect fit for me," he says. "It was a perfect fit, I think, for the kind of connection that I've had with my fans over the past four or five years and what they kinda expect. You know they expect to have a good time and the songs that help them do that. This is definitely a song...that we'll be doing for a long, long time."

Kenny's fans can catch him on the small screen on Good Morning America's "Summer Concert Series" in New York City's Bryant Park on June 9. "Somebody said to me that it's like it's not summer until our tour comes through their town," he says, "and in a weird way, it's almost like it's not summer for us until we get out there with Diane, Robin and Charlie. When we play the streets of New York, there's this really cool, really loose, really intense energy that just kicks our butts -- and we love it."
