June 30, 2006--Gretchen Wilson is turning heads with her newly-buff bod and summer tan in the video for her latest single, "California Girls." Allaboutcountry.com has the story behind the song. Gretchen wrote the song with her friend, Big & Rich's John Rich, when they were recording the final songs for her debut album, Here For The Party. "We wrote it in the studio," Gretchen tells the website. "He was like, ‘That whole "California Girls" song that The Beach Boys had is exactly the opposite of what you are. And we should make that statement.'" The song has become Gretchen’s latest Top 40 hit.
