Allison Moorer: A New CD, New Outlook Too

July 18, 2006-- Allison Moorer tells The Tennessean's Peter Cooper that the past 18 months of her life have been a whirlwind. "I've done a lot of growing," she says. "A lot of changing, searching and figuring out who I am and what I want to be. I'm way better. When things change, it's always sad in a way. But things do change, whether you want them to or not."

The changes she's referring to are her divorce from ex-husband and former co-writer, Butch Primm, and her marriage to country/rock/Americana legend Steve Earle. Steve produced Allison's new CD, Getting Somewhere. The record is decidedly more positive than Allison's previous albums, The Duel and Miss Fortune.

"It's a brighter sound," she says. "I wanted to figure out a way to suit these songs that are way more positive and upbeat than The Duel. I love The Duel, but let's face it, it's a downer. Writing this album, I felt like I'd been dark for too long, and I didn't want to make music to bum people out anymore. I didn't want to make music to bum me out anymore."
