July 31, 2006--Tracy Byrd is joining a growing number of country artists who've released CDs without the help of a major label. Tracy tells the St. Cloud Times that's something he never would have considered when he started his singing career in 1992. In fact, he wasn't even expecting to make a career out of music.

"Shoot, I just wanted to have one hit and a record," Tracy says. "I didn't look much further than that."

Tracy says he received a few offers from major labels willing to put out his next CD, but he wanted to try something different. Because he was already an established artist, Tracy didn't think a major label would put the resources into promoting the album. He knew that by creating his own label and producing an album, he'd be able to keep costs down and have the potential for more financial gain.

He also had complete creative control over his new album, Different Things.
"I think it came out great," Tracy says of the CD, due in stores Oct. 31. "It has some killer ballads and mid-tempo country songs. It's just a killer country record."
