September 18, 2006--Kellie Pickler isn't the only 2006 American Idol alum to sign a country record deal. Musicnewsnashville.com reports that Rockingham, NC native Bucky Covington has struck a deal with Sawyer Brown front man Mark Miller, who will produce Bucky's debut album, to be released in 2007. Bucky also has signed on with Frank Miller and Ron Harris of Nashville based O-Seven Artist Management, as well as with Creative Artists Agency as his booking agency.

"Bucky's appeal with the American people was evident from his success on American Idol and we plan to continue that success," says O-Seven Management's Frank Miller. "The format of AI didn't allow him to showcase his roots, ranging from traditional country to Southern rock."

"He's a great singer and musician with an infectious good ole boy charisma," adds O-Seven's Ron Harris. "He's tailor made for country music."
