April 3, 2007 — Kix Brooks of Brooks & Dunn, who played a songwriters' circle last week as part of the Tin Pan South festival, said he'll never quit writing songs.

"This is what I came here to do," he told Nashville's WKRN. "I love touring with Brooks & Dunn. That's as exciting as anything I've ever done, but for 10 years before I met Ronnie I wrote songs for a living, and your heart and soul never get away from that. Hopefully, as artists you try to keep digging in that well. That's what makes the whole wheel turn."

Kix said he admires his partner, Ronnie Dunn's, writing ability and enjoys writing with him, but they both like spreading out and writing with other people too.

"There's a lot of great writers in this town, and I still love going back and digging in those old relationships and coming up with new songs," he said. "That's the unique, the magic, the special thing about Nashville. The guys I saw 20 years ago are still walking up and down that street making hit songs."
