June 1, 2007 — Ronnie Dunn is one of the many artists who sings with Reba McEntire on her upcoming duets album, slated for release this fall. Ronnie tells Dial-Global that Reba popped the question while the two were hanging out socially one evening.

"She started it last year," Ronnie says. "We were at dinner and she said, 'I'm gonna do a duets record,' and I said, 'Well, all right.' She goes, 'And I want you to sing one with me,' and I went, 'That's cool, I'd love to do that,' and she goes, 'But I want you to write it,' and I went, 'Only if you write it with me.'

Ronnie says he already had the idea for the song when they got together to write it. "Honestly, by the time I got to the room — it very seldom happens like this — I had the idea in my head about calling it 'Does The Wind Still Blow in Oklahoma,' about calling back home, homesick? asking your mother, dad," he says. "So, I'm anxious... we cut it, put three fiddles on it. It's a dang country song."

Ronnie celebrates his 54th birthday today. He and his partner, Kix Brooks, will be performing on the main stage at CMA Music Festival next Thursday, the same night as Reba.
