Toby Keith Makes Time for Family

July 19, 2007 — As busy as Toby Keith is with touring, promoting his latest CD, Big Dog Daddy, and running his record label, you wouldn't think he'd be home very much, but he tells Dial-Global he spends more time with his family now than he ever did.

Toby says he accomplishes this by carefully mapping out his performance schedule, which he seems to have down to a science. "Me and my assistant leave the ranch at one o'clock on Thursday afternoon," he says. "We drive about seven miles to a little private airport. I jump on a jet and in a couple hours I land wherever the boys are set up at. We play that night, ride the bus two or three hundred miles to the next venue Friday night. Saturday night as soon as the show is over, I'm back in. If we're on the East Coast, I gain an hour coming back to Oklahoma. I'm usually in bed by 1 a.m. on Saturday night. So, even in the roughest part of my touring season, I'm still only gone about 70 hours a week. The rest of the time I'm home."
