July 24, 2007 — Mindy McCready was arrested Saturday morning in Fort Myers, Fla., on battery and resisting arrest charges, then released on $1,000 bond, WINK-TV reports.
An official from the Sheriff's Department told WINK News that Mindy's mother told deputies that her daughter became violent with her after drinking. Officers say that they saw scratches on the mother's face and that Mindy's breath reeked of alcohol.
Mindy reportedly denied everything and called her mother "crazy." According to WINK, she resisted arrest and had to be restrained. That's when she hit her head on the ground, which caused a gash on her face.
Mindy was then taken to jail, where deputies say she was so disruptive they were forced to use pepper spray to control her. Mindy told WINK she planned to visit a doctor and a lawyer and is considering filing brutality charges against the Sheriff's deputy, claiming she was bruised, starved in jail and maced for no reason. She is scheduled to appear in court on August 14.
