September 21, 2007 — The Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and a new songwriting major at the Curb College of Belmont University both have a new, permanent home on Music Row, thanks to the generosity of the Mike Curb Family Foundation.

Hall of Fame member Dolly Parton was on hand yesterday afternoon to announce the new location at historic 34 Music Square East, former home of the Quonset Hut, Columbia Studio A, Columbia and Epic Records and Sony Music Nashville.

"We are excited that this site offers a further extension of the Curb College throughout Music Row," Mike said, adding that the new location "will provide students with an incredible opportunity to learn about the history of music through the new history professorship, songwriting through the new songwriting major and many other aspects of the music business."

Dial-Global reports that Dolly told the crowd she was thrilled to finally have a home for Music City's songwriters. "I'm just a poor wayfaring songwriter proud to finally have a home," she said. "It's great to know that we now have an official physical home where people can actually come, visit and see what it's like to write a song, hear all that stuff and just know that this is our Songwriter's Hall of Fame."

Induction into the Hall of Fame, established in 1970, is considered the highest honor that can be bestowed on a songwriter with connections to the Nashville music community. Its 162 members include Bill Anderson, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Vince Gill, Roger Miller and Hank Williams Sr.

"The Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Foundation is honored and excited about this partnership and the synergies it presents," said Roger Murrah, the foundation's chairman and a 2005 inductee of the Hall of Fame. "We helped design the curriculum for the songwriting major, and our members are willing and available to share our experiences with aspiring writers. We hope we're also a source of inspiration for them. This partnership gives us a chance to give back."
