September 28, 2007 With influences as diverse as Willie Nelson and Nancy Wilson, Pam Tillis' first holiday release, Just in Time for Christmas, incorporates both down-home country and uptown torch.
"I just wanted to make a Christmas album as comfortable and familiar as your favorite winter sweater," she says. The album will be released on Pam's own Stellar Cat label on November 13.
Following 10 years of performing holiday shows, Pam says she found some songs had emerged as favorites for both her and her live audiences. In addition to classics such as "Silent Night," "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve," and "I'll Be Home for Christmas," she added three new compositions that have the same familiar ring as the standards.
And as Christmas is a family affair, she roped her father, Mel Tillis, in for a duet, as well as nieces and nephews to do some background vocals by the fire.
The Christmas album follows closely on the heels of Pam's latest studio album, Rhinestoned, which met with high praise from the critics, many of whom called it the best music of her career.
