October 11, 2007 — One of Garth Brooks' performances at the Sprint Center in Kansas City will be shown in movie theaters nationwide, Garth announced Wednesday at the grand opening of the arena, Kansas City's KCTV-5 reports.

Garth was the guest of honor at the ceremony, creating an uproar from fans in attendance. He recently sold out nine shows at the Sprint Center and will perform November 5-12 and November 14.

Drawing cheers from the crowd, Garth said he will take one of his Kansas City shows live in association with Fathom Events (FathomEvents.com), to 300 movie theatres and country music radio stations providing the broadcast from coast to coast. Details will be provided later on his website.

"We never expected the response we got," Garth said after the ceremony, adding that he hadn't started rehearsing yet. "It's going to be rough, it's going to be raw, but it's going to be fun."

Garth called Sprint Center a "big, beautiful building." He had initially scheduled just one show, but after tickets to the performance quickly sold out, he scheduled eight more performances at the center.

The tickets to the additional eight shows sold out in one hour and 58 minutes, tying Garth's own personal record for selling the highest number of tickets in any city in North America.
