November 12, 2007 — Their performance of their Top 25 hit, "How Long" at last week's CMA Awards marked The Eagles' first appearance at an awards show together in all their years as a group.

Don Henley talked to Dial-Global about the group's decision to make their awards show debut in Nashville. "Well, performing on live television is no picnic," he joked. "There's just a lot of things that could go wrong, and it's just nerve-racking. But we've gotten older and a little braver about it."

"We've all done award shows individually, made appearances whether it be as a presenter or doing a song, but this will be our first awards show as a group," he continued. "And it just seemed like the right thing to do. I mean, we've got a single on the country charts with a bullet and we all have a lot of friends here in the Nashville community. We've always had one foot in country music going back to 'Take It Easy,' which had a banjo on it. A lot of people say that country music now sounds a lot like what we used to do, or what we still do. So we feel right at home here. I don't think doing the CMAs is a stretch for us at all."

The Eagles' first studio album in nearly 30 years, Long Road Out of Eden, landed on top of the Billboard 200 in its first week of release, selling 711,000 copies in the U.S, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
