November 26, 2007 Carrie Underwood says that while she is used to singing for thousands of fans in concert, she is actually afraid to sing in front of just a few people.
Carrie tells Dial-Global she'd be embarrassed even to be caught singing in her car at a stoplight. "It's just different," she says. "It's kind of like there's the person that we are everyday in our normal lives that's one person, and there's a different person that takes over when you get onstage. And that's the person that those people want to see. So you get to do things you wouldn't normally do in your everyday life.
"So, while I get onstage and I sing and I dance and I have a great time and I'm kind of crazy and I'm free and it's fun, I wouldn't just walk up and down the street doing that. So you have different personalities that take over when they need to take over. And you can kind of be an actor, and be a different person from time to time."
Carrie says she likes to be able to morph into someone else to release a different side of her personality. She adds that when she's performing, she can do things that she can't do ordinarily. For example, she explains, "Nobody wants to see me dance I can't dance. I'm a horrible dancer! But when I'm on stage, I'm a great dancer."
