November 26, 2007 — Garth Brooks isn't ready to give up the stage just yet — he'll play a benefit concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on January 26.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit the victims of recent wildfires in Southern California, as well as the future of firefighting in the state. The benefit show came together after California officials asked Garth to help raise funds for those affected by the October blazes, according to his spokesperson.

"I'm flattered they've asked and I'm honored to accept," Garth said. "This is going to take a team effort like nothing I have ever been a part of before."

Garth recently performed nine sold-out concerts at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo., selling 160,000 tickets in less than two hours. His three-disc boxed set, The Ultimate Hits,, is currently No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Country Albums chart.
