December 17, 2007 — Carrie Underwood is breaking yet more records as her latest release, Carnival Ride, has been simultaneously certified Gold, Platinum and Double Platinum by the RIAA for sales of two million units.

Based on cumulative SoundScan sales now in excess of 6.1 million copies, Carrie's debut album, Some Hearts this year became the best-selling female country debut in history. No album — in any genre — released since Some Hearts (on Nov. 15, 2005) has surpassed the disc's powerhouse sales to date.

In addition, Billboard has named Carrie the No. 1 best-selling female artist of 2007 across all genres. She also scored the magazine's titles for Top Country Artist, Top Female Country Artist and Top Country Album Artist.

Carrie's debut album, Some Hearts, scores the title of Billboard's Top Country Album for the second consecutive year, making her the first female artist in history to ever do so. Only one other artist — Charlie Rich, in '73 and '74, with his landmark Behind Closed Doors — has ever accomplished this feat.

As if that weren't enough, R&R has named Carrie the No. 1 female artist of 2007, commemorating the support she's received from country radio this past year. And outside the world of country music, Carrie's "Before He Cheats" earns the longest chart run of any single on the Billboard Hot 100 this decade, spending 64 weeks on the chart.

Carrie's new single, "All-American Girl," is scheduled for release soon, and she will be performing live in New York City's Times Square on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve 2008 on ABC.
