January 10, 2008 — While his CMA-nominated Long Trip Alone album is still pretty fresh, Dierks Bentley has already been working on the follow-up project. No release date is in sight, but Dierks is giving it his very best shot, because in these days of dwindling album sales and rising singles downloads, he's not sure artists will be making albums much longer.

"I've been writing songs all year. I went into the studio in September with the guys and got about 20 songs worked up," Dierks tells Dial-Global. "I took the songs back out on the road this fall and we've been putting a couple of those in the live show."

He says he'll make changes depending on fans' reactions to each tune. "I'm just really trying to take my time to get everything right and get the best record, because you don't know how much longer albums are going to be made," says Dierks, who plans to get back into the recording studio next month. "So I want to make sure the next one is killer."
